Easterly Asset Management Appoints Joshua Schachter as Chief Investment Officer of Easterly Snow

Schachter steps into role after 25 years of investing alongside longtime CIO, Richard Snow

Easterly Asset Management (“Easterly”), home to investment teams providing investors with a portfolio of solutions across alternatives, active equity, and active fixed income, today announced the appointment of Joshua Schachter, CFA as Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Easterly Snow.

Schachter assumes the CIO role from Richard Snow, who will remain with the firm as Portfolio Manager for the Easterly Snow Long/Short Opportunity and All Cap Value strategy, as well as select private investment vehicles. With a career spanning over 45 years including over 25 years as CIO, Richard will transition away from day-to-day management to focus solely on portfolio management.

"We are grateful to Richard for his leadership in building Easterly Snow and establishing an investment strategy that has consistently delivered value for our clients,” said Darrell Crate, Founder and Managing Principal at Easterly Asset Management. "Richard and Josh’s longstanding partnership ensures continuity for our investors and we look forward to what’s next for Easterly Snow with another high-performing CIO like Josh at the helm.”

Easterly Snow, previously Snow Capital Management, has been a Strategic Partner of Easterly since 2021. The Easterly Snow team manages the Small Cap Value, SMID Cap Value, All Cap Value, and Focused Value strategies. In addition, the team manages two mutual funds, the Easterly Snow Long/Short Opportunity Fund and the Easterly Snow Small Cap Value Fund.

Richard Snow founded Snow Capital Management as a family office in 2001. Schachter joined Snow that same year and supported the firm’s expansion to manage external capital while assembling a seven-person investment team that applies an established, fundamental, bottom-up selection process focused on value investing. The team has been a top-performing value equity manager that has produced top-decile performance over a trailing five-year period for its flagship Small Cap Value and SMID Cap Value strategies.1

“After decades of leading this team, I’m excited to take a step back while continuing to focus on portfolio management,” said Richard Snow. “Josh is a highly accomplished leader and investor and this transition marks an exciting new chapter for the next generation of Easterly Snow.”

"I'm honored to take on the role of CIO and excited to lead Easterly Snow as we continue to execute on our contrarian philosophy that has provided value to our investors for over two decades," said Joshua Schachter, CIO and Portfolio Manager at Easterly Snow. "Richard has been an incredible mentor and I look forward to continuing our work together in this new role to build on our long-standing track record and established investment philosophy in the value equity market."
