UK Glioblastoma Patient & Partner Appeal For Donations To Fund Cancer Treatment

Asta Pratapaviciene has launched a fundraiser to help cover the cost of private treatment for her partner, Raimondas, who was diagnosed with glioblastoma.

-- UK woman Asta Pratapaviciene is asking for public support through her latest GoFundMe campaign, 'You’re My Only Hope,' to help her partner Raimondas access life-saving treatment for glioblastoma - a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

Glioblastoma is one of the most challenging cancers to treat, known for its rapid progression and poor response to conventional therapies like chemotherapy and radiotherapy. While the NHS provides essential care, cutting-edge options, including experimental immunotherapies and targeted treatments, remain largely out of reach for the average UK patient due to their high cost and limited availability.

Asta, who launched the campaign in April 2025, aims to raise £100,000 to cover the cost of specialist care for Raimondas, explaining that his best chance lies in advanced therapies that the NHS currently does not offer. She notes that after researching the condition, she learnt that traditional treatments often fall short for glioblastoma patients. However, private clinics are offering specialised therapies that target this specific cancer and show more promise.

“Raimondas is full of life, dreams, and love, and he’s not ready to give up. Neither am I,” Asta said. “We’re asking for your kindness and support to help us afford this treatment. Every donation, regardless of its size, contributes to our efforts to give Raimondas a better chance.

So far, the campaign has gained support from 168 donors, reaching just 7% of its goal. Asta stresses that every donation brings them closer to securing a treatment plan that could give Raimondas the best possible chance.

Glioblastoma affects around 3,000 people annually in the UK, with survival rates remaining low despite medical advances. For patients like Raimondas, private, experimental therapies may be the only path to extending survival and improving quality of life.

She acknowledges the difficulty of asking strangers for help but says their situation leaves her no choice. “We’ve overcome so much to build a life together,” she reflects, “and now we’re facing the biggest challenge yet. I’m asking for your kindness to help give Raimondas the chance he deserves.”

All donations to the campaign are protected and will go toward Raimondas' admission to a private clinic for advanced treatment.
