The Curtain Rose on the 2025 Awards Season in Dazzling Style as the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences Celebrated its 11th Annual Voice Arts® Awards

MANHATTAN, N.Y. - Dec. 20, 2024 - PRLog -- The star-studded evening brought together luminaries from across the entertainment world, including Niecy Nash-Betts, Mahershala Ali, Joe Cipriano, Tiffany Haddish, Will Patton, and more, alongside elite voiceover talent from around the globe.

The glamorous sit-down dinner and awards presentation offered a rare fusion of Hollywood's finest and international artistry. Co-founders Rudy Gaskins and Joan Baker set the tone for the evening with heartfelt remarks. "Tonight, we celebrate the cultures and languages of more than 20 countries and the continent of Africa. Tonight, we are one," proclaimed Gaskins, capturing the essence of unity that defined the event.

The night's performances were equally breathtaking, none more so than the electrifying showcase by Karen y Ricardo, nine-time world champion salsa cabaret dancers, whose precision and passion left the audience spellbound.

Among the night's highlights:

  • Niecy Nash-Betts, the beloved multi-Emmy Award winner, received the prestigious Voice Arts Icon® Award, presented by Hollywood Walk of Fame recipient Jenifer Lewis. Nash-Betts moved the audience with her candid reflection on overcoming childhood ridicule for her distinctive voice, saying, "It sounded like I needed to drink a bottle of lotion." Embracing her voice as her superpower, she inspired attendees to celebrate their uniqueness.
  • Mahershala Ali, the two-time Oscar winner, was honored with the Muhammad Ali Voice of Humanity Honor, presented by Moonlight writer Tarell Alvin McCraney. Ali delivered a deeply personal speech, revealing how Muhammad Ali's legacy inspired his choice of name when he converted to Islam. His words resonated with a profound sense of humility and grace that captivated the room.
  • The Voice Arts Lifetime Achievement Award went to legendary voiceover star Joe Cipriano, whose iconic voice has graced American homes through FOX, CBS, the Emmy Awards, and countless game shows. The honor was presented by Nita Whitaker, wife of the late, great voiceover pioneer Don LaFontaine, adding an emotional and historic touch to the ceremony.
Beyond the star power, the gala shone as a beacon of global diversity, with attendees donning traditional attire and celebrating languages and cultures from across the world. "We don't politicize diversity. We create the space for it and reap the benefits of the love it generates," remarked SOVAS VP, Joan Baker, encapsulating the evening's ethos.
