It was a mixed quarter for the company, with a solid beat of analysts’ organic revenue estimates but EPS guidance for next quarter missing analysts’ expectations significantly.

This quarter, analysts are expecting Mohawk Industries’s revenue to decline 4.9% year on year to $2.55 billion, in line with the 4.5% decrease it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $1.40 per share.

Analysts covering the company have generally reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. Mohawk Industries has only missed Wall Street’s revenue estimates once over the last two years, exceeding top-line expectations by 1.5% on average.
Looking at Mohawk Industries’s peers in the consumer discretionary segment, some have already reported their Q1 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Leggett & Platt’s revenues decreased 6.8% year on year, meeting analysts’ expectations, and Hasbro reported revenues up 17.1%, topping estimates by 14.8%. Leggett & Platt traded up 32% following the results while Hasbro was also up 15.9%.
